Many years ago as a 15 year old Junior
Executive,
(Assistant Manager Trainee, at a national music retailer),
I was required to wear a tie for work, and I did not own any. My
grandfather had bequeathed to me several very wide paisley
silk ties. The store manager of the store decided to tease me
about these ties. The following fall GQ magazine proclamied that the
"timeless pattern of the paisley tie was back and wide as
ever". When the current assistant manager moved up to manager, I
received a name tag that simply said,
"Paisley" - Assistant Manager. Then I went to College and whilst
reigning as Master of the Universe (damn rye bread mold) from atop a water
tower, this car drove up and parked, and it was a very shiny black
car, too shiny if you know what I mean.. playing a David Bowie song that I
knew what it was but I only heard
one line, "that wasn't no DJ, that was Paisley Cosmicchild", (actually
"That weren't no D.J. that was hazy cosmic jive"
it kind of
stuck as I floated down from the water tower. My first screen name on AOL
was "DJPaisley" but then I bought one
of those new 14.4 modems and they only had 9600 in my area, so buh bye
AOL.
